How Online Learning Effected Me

On March 13th, my whole life and education changed dramatically. As someone who works and learns better in a hands-on environment, I knew online learning was going to be a difficult task for me. For the end of 9th grade, the only classes I had to meet online was for English and health. The two classes were pretty easy to learn online. Math and Spanish was a lot harder for me. As someone who was planning on taking Geometry in the summer, I was scared I wasn’t going to be ready. My math teacher only made us do homework, and I was confused on some of the topics. Spanish 2 was hard for me in school and online, but I made it through. My mental health was the lowest during July and August. I love math, I was always advanced in every math class, except for 7th grade. But learning geometry in the 5 weeks was a nightmare for me. I had to teach myself everything as well as get ready for the final. I remember falling apart every time I had to do proofs. The final came and I did a lot better than I thought I would, and I made it to Algebra 2 Trig. I couldn’t wait for the school year to begin.

September 2020 came, I had just finished my project for English and I was preparing for the hardship I knew I would experience during 10th grade. As of right now, I am struggling to learn in most of my classes. Tests and quizzes became less of what I know, but more of if I am going to pass. Temptation of cheating came up due to my phone being near me, but I am able to resist it. Sitting in one area for four hours became incredibly tiring, especially on Monday. As a result, going back to school in person would help me learn a lot better and have a healthier mindset.
