How I Cope With Distance Learning

Truthfully, Covid-19 has made school really difficult for lots of people. Schools struggled with developing efficient methods to make sure students learn and stay focused online. Of course it’s tempting to go on your phone, or watch TV during class, but we have to discipline ourselves since we aren’t physically in school.

To be honest, I haven’t completely figured out how to deal with online classes and staying on track with assignments, but I have some ways to stay organized. I have a daily planner on my desk that’s always open and in my line of sight. This way, I’ll aways be looking at what I need to get done. The satisfaction of checking off things on my to-do-list gives me some motivation. I have to admit, that I am very guilty of going on my phone in class to satisfy my obsession with TikTok and social media. However, when I know my teacher is talking about something important, I put it off to the side facing down to help me resist the urge of checking it. It’s draining sitting at a desk staring at a screen for hours everyday, especially when there’s a huge workload of homework in each subject. To prevent myself from going crazy, I give myself little breaks (which last for way longer then they’re supposed to, but it’s okay).

I think we can all agree that distance learning kind of sucks. We all want to have an eventful high school experience while it lasts, but it’s difficult now that everyone is at home. Sooner or later, time will fly by and we will remember being a freshman one day and then realize that it’s our senior year already. Rather than dwelling over the fact that we can only see our friends virtually, I think we should make the best out of our situation! We’re all going through this life changing experience, and we’ll overcome it together. It may sound cliché, but, when there’s a will, there’s a way.

  1. Totally! The system is flawed, but we can overcome it while staying safe too! We just have to keep working on it day by day

  2. What are some of your favorite things to do on a break? I like taking a brief tour of my backyard looking for anything new or just looking at the sky- I also like making tea or something small to snack on.
