Online Schooling in Quarantine

I have been in quarantine for about three months now due to the coronavirus pandemic. I have not been able to hang out or play play sports outside alongside my friends for a long time now, and it is starting to annoy me. It is one thing to be annoyed by someone, but this is a totally different situation whereas I am annoyed by the situation that I am stuck in right now. Although, I know I must accept reality and stay inside to be prevent any risk of getting the virus, I am itching to get back out there to have some fun with my family and friends. We do not know when the world will reopen, so must must wait until that day comes. Until then, I have been doing school work to stay on track with my learning during the quarantine.

Online schooling has been difficult because I am not able to ask direct questions to my teachers about certain problems or lessons. The 2019-2020 school year is starting to wrap up and I am preparing to finish my summer assignments for my AP classes. Education is a never ending cycle that is present whenever or wherever I am. We are all prone to learning something new as our lives progress, so I choose to try my best at school while I can to prepare myself for the real world. Although, quarantine has made it harder for me to fully achieve this goal, I am still able to try to complete anything assigned. I would much rather work at school, but due to the world’s condition, that is not possible. We are still unsure as to if school will be online during the fall or not, but whatever the school boards and our leaders choose for us, we must try to work with it as best as we can.

What worked for me during online schooling was staying on track with all my classes and assignments. It was stressful to constantly check my phone for assignment notifications, never knowing when I would have new work, but it helped me be more organized with all my work. As the school year is coming to an end, I am glad that I have completed all my assignments. In the end, my satisfaction with my grades are all that matter. Knowing that I ended my school year on a good note gives me a boost of confidence to do better next year.

There were also many things that didn’t work out for me during online school though. I found it difficult to understand certain lessons, which made it harder to do ell on y tests and homework. When I had question for my teachers I found it harder to ask over email since if I were at school I would point out which steps stumped me on certain assignments. Also, doing a lab for my chemistry class was the peak of difficulty during this quarantine. I found it hard to understand the lesson already, but the virtually recorded lab my teacher made was even more confusing to me, but I managed to complete it in the end. All in all, I think that school benefits all more if it was done face-to-face, whereas online school would make things difficult for both teachers and students, because it is more challenging for teachers to help students who are struggling with their schoolwork. Despite the difficulty of it, I think that the adults should choose online school for next fall in order to be safe. This is because in my case, I have already adapted and I am ready to start the school year next fall. Until the next school year, arrives I will continue trying to keep myself occupied to prevent myself from whining over the fact than we are still in quarantine.
