Filling my CanTeen

At first, quarantine was boring, monotonous, and I felt like every day was the same. The days seemed to be longer and I couldn’t even go to the grocery store for fun anymore. The regular errands were just too much with long lines and certain rules. You also didn’t know who you’d run into; some people being a little more crazier than others. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so blessed to be alive and have an amazing home life but something was missing. I didn’t feel like me anymore. This lasted up until mid April. Once I knew I wasn’t going back to school anymore… I set some goals.

My first goal was to find a job. Since dance, school, and Assistance League (volunteer place) were cancelled I really wanted to find a job I enjoyed. So I sent my resume to various places and it took some time. Many places didn’t get back to me due to being underage and not having a lot of experience. But finally… my favorite coffee shop contacted me and I couldn’t be more stoked. 602 COFFEE HOUSE!! I interviewed and I immediately knew it would be the right fit. I landed the job and have been working around 4 times a week. I love it! The people are chill and my fellow employees are the sweetest people. I’m so grateful for my job.

My second goal was to feel good in my own skin. This is a really sensitive topic for me and I normally wouldn’t share something like this but I don’t mind. I’m a dancer as most of you know and dance is basically all cardio. My body is so used to cardio that it doesn’t effect my body anymore. Recently I have been working out around 5 times a week, usually with weights. My body reacts very well with weighted exercises and I have definitely felt a change in my body. My confidence is increasing and my mindset is stronger than ever.

My third goal was to think more positive thoughts. I have been watching videos on the Law of Attraction and how it works. I’m very intrigued by it and if you haven’t heard about it, I would suggest checking it out! The Law of Attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. In basic terms, all thoughts turn into things eventually. If you focus on negative doom and gloom you will remain under that cloud. If you focus on positive thoughts and have goals that you aim to achieve you will find a way to achieve them with massive action. Once I started incorporating this thinking in my life, opportunities came to me and I’ve grown as an individual.

In conclusion, I’m so grateful for this learning experience and having the time to reflect on myself. I realized what I wanted in life and got it!

  1. Have you been working during some of the protests? I know a student who works at Jack’s and she said it has been a bit nuts down on Main Street. Hope you are okay and people are being nice and respectful.
