My Place of Safety as a Quaranteen

It’s really amazing how places of safety bring us confidence and self-worth. We feel most at home and the least vulnerable when we feel safe. It’s the sense of being able to do whatever you want at the cost of nothing. That’s how I feel when I am by my computer. I have access to the Internet for knowledge, access to the games I enjoy and take pride in, and access to chats to communicate with my friends, as I can’t see them in person during these times.

Familiarity goes hand in hand with safety. We feel safe around things because we are familiar with it. It’s exactly what happened in Gate 4 and in Girl Falling from the Sky. The Gate 4 Woman felt safe because she was familiar with the language that the author spoke to her. In Girl Falling from the Sky, she was familiar with her environment and ultimately helped her live, as she stayed calm throughout the time she was stranded and somehow stayed in shock that whole time. It’s amazing how the human brain and the human body interact, and if Julianne was able to survive 10 days in the Amazon with her injuries, then we can survive this Quarantine. We are in this together, and hopefully in our own places of safety.

  1. This is great. I’m super curious about what you mean by Gate-4 and Girl Falling From the Sky? Could you highlight those terms and use the link tool to create a link to the things that you are mentioning in this post so we can see them? Thanks.
