For the last two months now I’ve been doing the same thing over again and eating what was given (as well as what I was able to find). Being sick of doing nothing all day and eating the same food everyday, I decided to make my own food instead of having to rely on my parents.
I started out slow by making french toast for my brother and I. After seeing that it was successful, I then decided to make pancakes and souffle pancakes. Regular pancakes were easy but I definitely failed at making souffle pancakes. The batter was too watery the first time I made it and the second time it wasn’t fluffy enough.
After making these, I started to realize how fun, though time consuming, cooking was. When I would be cooking I wasn’t spending all my time looking at my phone as much as I used to. Gradually, from cooking, I started to turn over to baking/making something quick such as a strawberry smoothie.
Some things that I’ve made are:
-dalgona coffee (took about 5-8 minutes)
-dalgona matcha (poured too much milk)
-pandan flavored waffle
-sesame balls
-cinnamon rolls
-leche flan
-milk tea (lipton black tea with sugar and milk)
-beef salad

-spicy risotto pasta

-chicken fettuccine alfredo

-avocado with condensed milk and ice

Out of all the things that I made, I definitely like the vanilla pound cake which I even made for Mother’s day for my relatives. Those who like eating madeleines cookies would enjoy this as the taste is similar. For the past couple of weeks, after trying these, I’ve continued to make them such as milk tea and avocado.
This was a completely whole new experience for me as I hated being in the kitchen. I definitely learned how to make many new things, some of which I would definitely do again/continue doing. Doing this allowed me to take a rest from using my phone all day and do something productive. From how things are looking, I definitely see myself doing this on a regular basis from now on.
Thanks for sharing the recipe of the pound cake. My son and I have been making tortillas: flour and corn. It’s pretty tasty making your own. My son made his own ricotta cheese from milk and that was tasty too. Banana bread was a big hit. Oh yeah and we made okonomiyaki which was super tasty.
How were the cinnamon rolls and pandan waffles? What’s something you want to make, but you’re missing an ingredient?

-(Sorry for the late reply, just got my internet back.) Making the cinnamon took quite a while but it was delicious. I tried making the icing but it wasn’t thick enough so it was just a glaze. For the pandan waffle, making it from scratch taste differently from the premixed ones at the asian supermarket. The premixed one was a little bland compared to making it from scratch since you know how much sugar to put in. Also, the premixed one was a little more crispy while the other was soft (same tempt+time) but both were still delicious.
-All of the food that I made or would like to make, I try to find recipes that have all the ingredients I have at home instead of having to continuously go the supermarket to buy them.
