Rice With Noodles

During this quarantine period, there has been a drastic change in our daily routine. Basic habits that we didn’t really think much of such as waking up early enough to go to school, and going to bed within a reasonable time frame got all thrown out the window as the weeks of quarantine have gone by.

Through the past 7 weeks, I have managed to pick up habits that pre-quarantine me would have certainly questioned: such as casually going downstairs to eat food 3 AM in the morning, and/or starting to get in a productive mood at midnight. All of these habits aren’t necessarily bad, just odd, and sometimes restricting. The particular habit of me going downstairs late at night to eat, seems slowly becoming a hybrid: part art form, and part mission.

For example, the art of how food is prepared is crucial to how my late night, or early morning, will carry on. The mission of choosing the right type of food is also important. One of these nights, I was fancying both rice and instant chow mein, I don’t know if this is cultural or not in my household, but it’s normal for my family to add rice to noodles. The reason why I prefer rice with noodles mixed in is because it settles in my mind which is the better carbohydrate for me to eat at the time. Face timing friends about this they said they have never tried it before, so I urged them to try it. My having inner conflict on which carbohydrates I should consume is quite common, for instance, there are times where I make instant ramen, and dip some Hawaiian bread in it for a richer taste with a hearty instant soup. I plan to experiment with different food combinations as my late nights continue.
