My Quarantine Health Journey

Throughout this whole quarantine experience, I knew I wanted to try a few things out since I finally had the time to. I have been following this health influencer named Kenzie Burke and she promotes healthy eating by food combining and I wanted to try it out. I’m already a health freak as it is but I was excited to try this new lifestyle. Food combining is a method of achieving optimal digestion by eating foods that are best eaten together while avoiding certain food combinations. Because certain food combinations are not “digestively” compatible, eating them together can negatively impact our body’s ability to break down and optimally digest the food. When you eat with food combining in mind, you are mindful of what foods you are pairing together. Different foods digest with different enzymes. For example, different enzymes are used to breakdown and digest starches, proteins, veggies, and fruits. Also, certain food categories take longer to digest than others. Fruit, for instance, requires very little time to digest so you are supposed to eat it in the morning. Other basic rules consist of starches and protein don’t pair well together, but starches and proteins pair well with veggies separately. I’m a nerd when it comes to health so this information comes very interesting to me. In the future, I might want to pursue dietetics and nutrition.

I have been doing Food Combining for about a week and I feel so good. My mind and body both feel happy and clear. I’m going to continue to do it as long as I can. I’m so glad I pushed myself to try something different.
