Drawing during Quarantine

When Quarantine started I had a hard time adjusting to the sudden change in my lifestyle. I hate to admit it but I was used to the routine I had when I went to school. I hate having routines because they’re repetitive but I didn’t even realize or acknowledge that my entire “school-life” was a routine. To be honest during the school year, I was planning an entire story-line and character designs for my story. Well, to put it simply, I was creating an entirely fictional universe with complex characters that had to interact with each other. I struggled to balance school work and my own personal projects because I was always behind schedule. Although my “story” didn’t necessarily have any deadline, I had initially planned to finish writing and sketching the first two seasons of my story before publishing in June.

Quarantine-life was hard to adjust to at first but I’ve been “well.” Although I’m not “healthy,” I have been very productive and I honestly like working at home. I barely get any sleep because after I finish school work, I immediately start working on my story. I’ve been trying really hard to manage my time wisely but once I start writing and drawing, I lose track of time because I’m so absorbed in it.

Honestly, this really is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me since I’ll be a full-time student for the next 6-8 years. This is the most time that I’ve gotten to work on something that doesn’t make me feel like I’m “working.” I genuinely love drawing and quarantine has made me even more aware of it.

Other than drawing and doing homework, I’ve been exercising because I need my back muscles to be strong. Since I have scoliosis, drawing hunched over my monitor for 8-13 hours a day isn’t going to help with my posture whatsoever. My mom has noticed that my posture has gotten much worse as of recently so I’ve been trying to stretch as much as possible as well as do lower back exercises. Since I don’t really have a back brace and I’m unaware of whether my back is straight or not, I need to build strength in my lower back muscles in order to properly support my spine.
