Eating My Worries

Many people approach quarantine differently. Some use this time for creativity, while others can be negatively affected to the point where they don’t feel like they can do homework or get out of bed. For me, although I have adapted quite smoothly to this new routine, I have recognized that I have a terrible eating pattern now. During the beginning of quarantine, I had a healthy eating routine and I would eat a lot of nutrient-rich foods. But, now that more homework is being assigned and AP testing is approaching quickly, I am just feeling extremely stressed. I am also worried for my family and friends which adds on even more to my stress. Also seeing a lot of negativity and fear on social media has impacted my emotions quite heavily. Everything seems a bit out of control for me. Eating a lot of food at unusual times was my way of coping with this. I feel like time can be moving too quickly. Since my sleep schedule is different, I now eat a late lunch, dinner, and snack a lot at night. I usually eat pretty healthy besides when I snack. I raid my pantry and cabinets late at night. I also eat ramen at 2 a.m. with my sister sometimes. It is not the best way of coping with this stress, but I’m putting in effort to fix it a little bit. Of course I will cave into my cravings because right now is a scary and stressful situation, so I’m not going to be hard on myself. I hope after the AP testing, I will be more at ease with my situation and my eating habits will become better.
