You have to do what you love

A message I would want to share to the world is that you have to do what you love. There is the prospective lifestyle many of our parents or even society wants us to conform to. Some of our parents want us to become doctors or lawyers, some want us to carry on the family business, yet we might not always be as eager as they hope. Looking at billionaires such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, etc, they love what they do. When you hear their life stories, they often worked just out of passion for 20 years before hitting a spectacular idea that just happened to capture the future and make them rich.

Despite whether you think their wealth is fairly earned or should be more evenly distributed, the fact that they keep working proves they love what they do. Billionaires and even millionaires have an unimaginable amount of money and can afford luxuries with ease. The incentive that drives our society to go to work, to pursue high education, etc is money. Millionaires and Billionaires have reached the threshold where they no longer need to work to afford basic necessities and luxuries, yet continue doing so. The reason – they love what they do whether that be sending rockets to space, shipping companies, control over social media, etc.

Pursuing what you love gives you the motivation to stay constant with it throughout life and your overall happiness. There is actual research that the richer people get, the more miserable they are. That is a total paradox from what most of us think. However, it’s often because they have a miserable job they hate doing. Imagine this scenario, your 9-5 in a profession you hate, working with a bunch of people you don’t care for, and a project you have no interest in. You’d be completely exhausted and especially angsty with your partner and kids at home.

The people that don’t do what they love, don’t make it to the top. Few millionaires/billionaires reach the wealth threshold and then say bon voyage to the work life, those that do become depressed. Doing what you love even if it doesn’t make you rich in money, makes you rich in a whole lot of other ways. You’ll treat people better, you become a better person, others rather have you around, and ultimately, you’ll be happier.
