Love is a confusing topic. You do not always know when or why you’re feeling love towards someone or about something. While reading The Great Gatsby, I was a bit confused in the beginning because I did not get it at first. But when I got deeper I realized that there were many feelings/emotions in the air other than love. There was guilt, sadness, happiness, fear, and anger. These are all feelings/emotions that we feel on a daily basis and that can change in a split second. For example, Daisy is filled with joy when she is reunited with Gatsby but then afterwards feels guilty because she knows she is married to someone else. Gatsby was also filled with happiness but then felt sad when he saw that Daisy did not love him like she did before. A lot of people, including myself, can relate to The Great Gatsby because everyone’s emotion changes on a daily basis but it can also change shortly after. For example, when I am having the best day, filled with happiness, it can quickly change when someone or something gets me in a sad or irritated mood. In conclusion, I think The Great Gatsby is more relatable than I thought. It was a bit hard to understand in the beginning but now after some reading and deeper thinking I understand.
