Slumber Time

I just finished my sophomore year of high school and all I can say is that this year was interesting. Let’s be honest, everyone’s year has been odd since we all are experiencing the same effects of COVID.  Students have to work at home, parents work at home, and we have to wear masks outside.  But what I can say is that this wasn’t all necessarily bad.

I realized that during my time of school, it was harder to learn and stay focused in school.  Whether it be the student or the teacher’s fault, everyone is having a hard time with the new change.  However, that doesn’t change the amount of effort you put out to adapt to change.  What I mean is there was a teacher who would make the class harder than it should be by not being able to adapt to change.  They would focus on one part of the class while leaving the other behind which would be the students that are staying at home.  We had a project earlier this week and we were told to write down notes and create a paper model.  This part of the project wasn’t the bad part, the bad part was when they wouldn’t listen to the students staying at home.  What I mean is that they would ignore our calls of help whenever we asked and would talk too fast for us to understand.  Not to mention, we got the shorter end of the stick since the hybrid students only had to dissect an animal while we had to create the animal, make notes, and analyze the organs.  The difference in treatment was fairly obvious but the effort was there, it was just poor execution.

During this time, you can decide whether to do nothing or try something new.  As this quarantine grows longer, I picked up a hobby to subside my boredom, digital art.  Art in general used to be my passion but it faded over time.  Now, I have fired up my passion for it and I am aspiring to be a pro digital artist and animator when I grow up.  It could take me a while but it wouldn’t matter since I finally found something I love to do.

These are all the general experiences that I had this year and since the school year is finally ending, I can now slumber in peace until my junior year starts again.
