Dear Future Self,
Hello! If you’ve stumbled upon this after x years I hope you’re doing well. It’s currently the last few days of your sophmore year in highschool, many days were filled with emptiness but others were filled with joy and development as a person. This year has been a tough year for you, specifically, because you’ve had to make some life changing decisions. I hope you don’t blame your young self for any of the decisions you’ve made.
I hope you remember that this is the year where you had the advantage of focusing on volleyball and you full threw yourself into it. You grew into an incredible at volleyball, on and off the court. The confidence that you’ve redeveloped has showed up and I hope you’re still like that till this day. Keep being positive and not caring about what others say or think about you. It is funny how you’ve changed so much since your little down fall during the 8th grade but it’s amazing how you’ve grown since then. At this moment, volleyball means the world to you and I hope you haven’t stopped playing. It was your escape, I hope it still is because once you step into a volleyball gym to play or a small court on the grass you should play with passion and love for the sport. All your stress and anything else you’re dealing with should fall off your shoulder. I hope that where ever you decide to go with volleyball benefits you for the better.
School has been something that you’ve always struggled with. More like, something you’ve struggled to have a consistent work ethic for. I hope you’ve fixed that and you don’t burn out the last month of the school year. I hope that where ever you are in school is what you’ve wanted to do since you were young. I hope the friends you hold dear to your heart are still with you.
Last but not least, don’t be too hard on yourself. Your biggest critique is yourself and sometimes it can make you crazy. Just be yourself and hopefully, whichever job you have in the future is a job that you love and are passionate about. Remember to ask yourself this, “Where were you a year ago?” Best of wishes to you, my future self.
Love,
2020-2021 Sophmore/Quarantine Me
