To say the last year and a half was a new experience would definitely be an understatement. It’s definitely been the first time I’ve been subjected to a worldwide pandemic that forced everyone indoors, with online learning taking the place of an in person environment. Yet, I suppose the most difficult part of this whole ordeal was the sudden change in pace, as really no one expected something on this scale of things. Yet, my time in quarantine has definitely granted me a different perspective on myself, and others around me. This pandemic has taught me self-motivation, and work ethic based around my own time rather than the school’s time. I found myself having much more time doing the things I enjoy such as music, art, and simply just hanging out with my friends online.
I mean, I’ve never been too much of a glass half full type of guy, but if there’s one thing I want you to take away from this pandemic, it should be the more positive outcomes, or improvements you’ve made to yourself over this time. I certainly picked up a few more skills over the course of this pandemic. I got back into music composition, and playing music again for the first time in months. Can’t say I really got much better, but I definitely enjoyed the time I spent listening to music. Cooking had also been a skill I always wanted to learn, yet never found the time to, but a more plausible reason was that I was too lazy. So, naturally with all the extra time I had, I began to do just that. I started cooking.
If there’s anything I want you to take away from this short journal entry, it’s that you should take the time to pick up a new skill, or a new hobby. Really anything to keep you occupied during these times I suppose. Try to view this pandemic as an opportunity to have fun online, or really anything, the possibilities are boundless are your own desire to learn.
