Why is Cooking the Most Productive Hobby

Cooking is the most productive hobby because it teaches life skills, is a necessity for life, and gives sensational satisfaction.

So, what skills can you learn from cooking? The main ones that I had come up with were multitasking, time management, and creativity. When you are cooking, it is best if every dish that you cook finishes at the same time to keep everything as warm as it can be. This requires a decent amount of multitasking and time management to pull off and is one of the main reasons everyone likes to go over to someone else’s house for Thanksgiving. Creativity is a weird skill as everyone can think of it differently, however, I believe that cooking is without a doubt, an art form. As an art form, nothing you do can be wrong. Cooking can be done by the book, following recipes and no one can argue against that. It is simply when you leave that path when you may see interesting results.

Now, what other benefits does cooking give? Well, the main benefit is that everyone needs to eat, whether from home-cooked supermarket produce, or some restaurant. While it may seem difficult to compete against the quality of food in restaurants, if you need cheaper meals, making it yourself is a valid option. To pay for the bills, staff, and food costs, the cost of ingredients is usually 30% of what you pay the restaurant.

The last main topic is satisfaction. Cooking produces an art piece that can be perfect the whole way. From beginning as a visual masterpiece to ending with a satisfied stomach. It is simply the experience that you go through that makes it so impactful.

Now, you may ask why you should learn the three most basic skills from cooking when they honestly could also be gained in a million other hobbies. Well while other hobbies might teach these skills, none can both teach and reward you with the multitude of benefits that cheap and fast food may give.

Now with the topic of cheap and fast food, we get to the final boss of the culinary industry. How does anyone compete against fast food? Why should you learn to cook when there is already such a cheap alternative? Well, the issue is more of a personal choice instead of one that everyone should take. Some people may find it inconvenient to find time to learn how to cook, and that is perfectly fine. However, the people who have the time to learn how to cook should at least learn the basics as they might find something they would like to try to cook in the future.
