So my presentation is on cats. Getting a pet cat is the best and you guys are probably wondering, why? Since a lot of people are dog lovers, but getting a pet cat is the best because they are low maintenance, sleep more and they don’t take up space. I’m a dog owner, I own two dogs and they are so tedious. They take a lot of time and energy to take care of, and cats are the opposite. They’re really easy to take care of, and you don’t have to give a lot of attention and energy to them, which is why I highly, highly recommend them if you want a pet. 

So the first reason is that their low maintenance and them being low maintenance you can save money. Cats groom themselves, so there’s no need to bathe or comb them, until they are unable to. The reason why they’re unable to groom themselves is when they become senior cats only some senior cats can’t. Most of them still can. The reason why you could save money is because your water bill wouldn’t be as big and you could save money from the supplies you didn’t get for combing them, since they don’t need to be combed. 

Second reason is that they sleep a lot. Resulting in that, you get more time for yourself. Cats are the #1 pet that gets the most sleep in a day. They sleep up to 16 hours and kittens can go up to 22 hours a day, so you basically get the whole day to yourself. You can focus on yourself, relax, do work or just do whatever you want because they will be fine if you don’t look at them, since they’re going to be asleep. 

Lastly, they don’t take up space and the no brainer to that is that you get more space. So since you have plenty of space to have to yourself, you could do fun activities like the one shown on the screen. Cats don’t take up much space. Because their bodies aren’t big, and since their bodies aren’t big, their stomachs aren’t big. Since their stomachs aren’t big, their food supply wouldn’t be big and their beds won’t be big as well. 

A deeper dive on why they don’t need baths is because they groom themselves. Like I said earlier, cats can get baths from their owners, but most cats hate being in water because wet fur is extremely uncomfortable to them and therefore it takes a long time to dry. So why is getting wet so uncomfortable? Well, it’s uncomfortable to cats because it’s much heavier than dry fur. Cats don’t like heavy fur since it slows down their speed and ability to catch prey, which is weird because we literally feed them, but it’s just their natural instincts from long ago. And talking about that topic. Why do cats need to catch prey? Cats don’t. Long ago cats were brought in ships to protect food supply. Mice were always eating people’s food and in order to stop that they brought cats on board. You know, since cats prey on mice. 

Jerk talk, what’s the point of getting a cat then? So in our future we will be busy with jobs and even on vacations, you just want some relaxation. Getting a pet that is high maintenance would be very bad because you won’t be able to take care of them. So cats are better because they’re very independent and low maintenance to the point that even if you go a day without taking care of them, they will be fine. Because again they will be sleeping. So a cat would be a perfect companion to have with you on days when you’re busy or just want to relax. There isn’t a lot to manage and don’t require a lot of skill, only if you lack any, I’m hoping you guys don’t. Also an interesting fact is that cats can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression by just playing with them your cortisol levels go down. Cortisol is the reason why your stress, anxiety and depression levels rise.
