What was the point of the observers in the short film, Scavengers, accomplishing what they did on the planet?
In the short film, “Scavengers”, a group of observers were stranded on a strange, new planet due to their spaceship crashing. When I watched the film, I figured that the goal of the failed mission was to establish human settlement and I interpreted that it was a failed mission due to the destruction of the spaceship. The two observers had to use jump pods to escape and they had to survive on the new planet. While they did, they also experimented on the different types of creatures/organisms living there. I believe they did all of these and went through a long chain of processes to get a glimpse of their old home, which is Earth.

A valuable theme I extracted from this film is to always appreciate what you have especially when things go wrong. I feel as though the observers regretted going on that original mission to find human settlement. When they finally got a chance to glance back at their old world, their expressions gave off the feeling of relaxation. The female observer looked around, opened her arms out wide and took a breath of the fresh air as seen on the right. It led us only to find out that it was a fake reality of Earth due to her fading away when someone walked through her.

“Scavengers” can relate to a fake flyer that I made since the theme taught me to appreciate what I have. Once school started again, I’ve lost many hours of sleep trying to complete the amount of homework given. It showed me to be grateful of any opportunity I’m given even if it doesn’t seem the best because not everyone could receive that. Like many other students, I stay up extremely late trying to finish my assignments on time. However, the film enlightened me in a way that I should be appreciative of every hour of sleep I receive since some students get no sleep at all.
