My Lifesaver

Tiktok, for those who don’t know, is a lip sync app that allows creators to create content for their fans. Each video you make is either 60 seconds long or less. You can create lip sync, dancing, comedy, informational and makeup videos using your choice in music or voice. Inserted above is the most followed TikToker or creator, Charli D’amelio.

Before quarantine, TikTok was getting around school. Almost everyone got it, but the ones who didn’t were the ones judging, including me. The people who got it got judged because the app was so cringe and no one liked how it wasn’t original. To the adolescents judging me because I mentioned TikTok, hear me out; TikTok literally saved my quarantine and I know it saved yours too.

Quarantine is the absolute worst, no entertainment, no human contact, and no funnzies! My parents did not let me go out at all and if I was allowed to go somewhere, it’d only be to my cousin’s house. I literally did nothing besides learn because I randomly decided to take Geometry over the summer. I was so overwhelmed with math and couldn’t keep up since my tutor never taught me math. I had to teach myself geometry, imagine being self-taught on proofs. I honestly needed a break, ironic because I was literally on break, so I downloaded TikTok. I absolutely hated it. I did not find the fun in this ___ app, plus the dances were too hard for me to learn…then a miracle happened and I found myself being on the app 24/7, saying good morning and goodnight to it. Little did I know I was learning dances instead of math and started turning in my work late, it was a SINE for me to delete the app. Then, my math lessons were over and I was back to doing nothing. Sad, boring nights with no comedy to laugh at, dances to learn, crazy fun facts to know, no one to say goodnight to me. My mom was an absolute pain, telling me to do this and that everyday. Who even needs to clean the house everyday? Everyday, my dad would come home, shower, then eat and leave his table a mess for the girls to clean up after him. I washed dishes and swept the floor every night before my dad came home from work, so he could come home to a fresh home. So I re-downloaded TikTok to see if it could bring me the break I needed again. And let me tell you, it was the best decision ever. I would stay up all night absorbing the content I would’ve been able to watch if I didn’t have chores. TikTok relieves my stress, gives me free serotonin and the funzzies I needed during quarantine!!! It’s like the morning coffee I need, the eggs to my bacon, the pb to my j, or the everything to my bagel. Download TikTok if you want to be saved.
