Black lives do matter. It’s not a question. There’s always been such controversy for a subject that is quite obvious to those with morals. How many more people have to die for the world to realize everyone’s made of flesh and bones? Racism is a problem no one wants to talk about because it’s slightly uncomfortable. People are getting more or less rights depending on if they were born in a good family or not.

Everyone’s dealt with racism before yet, no one can talk about it. Everyone’s heard the stereotypes about African Americans being thugs, about Asians eating dogs and cats, about African Americans committing all the crimes. These small comments made at school are discriminating against those of color. Some people can’t see how harmful their words are. New stereotypes are being formed against any kind of Asian. Asian Americans are getting scolded and harassed because of the coronavirus and it’s excused. We need to start conversations or else this subject will never be settled.

White privilege exists and only ignorant people deny the fact that it does. Dylan Roof, Robert Dear, Patrick Crusius, and James Holmes have killed 47 people altogether. All these murderers are alive and white. Standing in your backyard with your cell phone, running, walking, wearing a hoodie, these are all things African Americans have been shot for by the police. People of color are losing their lives for doing everyday things that a white person can happily do without fearing for their lives. This fear shouldn’t exist in our world today.

Equality is something we shouldn’t need to fight for, it’s something we should already have. The protests are the start of a better society. People in our generation today are realizing that we need to use our voices for good and fight for something we believe in. Racism should not be excused.
