Experiences Within Quaranteen

The day school sent out an email that everything would move to online, was at first something frightening. Since, what felt so distant (co-vid 19), had now become a major turning point in our lives’. Something that will has changed our way of living. At first, I along with many others didn’t realize the actual severity of the disease, and didn’t really take any precautionary measures. So, when in school learning was cancelled it felt so sudden, and something that many of us were unprepared for. Though, at first it felt like a break, or a little vacation that would soon come to an end. In time, my own house became like a prison, in which I was shackled. Not being able to hang around with friends, and miss out on a part of high school life. In which is important to me, as many of my friends will take different paths in life and go to different colleges. And also high school being a point in my life, where I’m supposed to mature and develop better habits to prepare for the next level. Furthermore, during the break, for a period of time I loss motivation, due to the fact that I looked forward to the weekends as a sort of reward, that I worked hard towards. But now everyday feels like a weekend. During this time, I just sat back and relaxed not worrying about anything, cause there wasn’t much to get me going. Although, about 5 1/2 weeks in, I began to feel the repercussions of relaxing every single day. This was when I began to make a life style change. One which made me workout everyday for at least an hour and fifteen minutes. And, after just around 4 days, I observed a world of difference, as I wasn’t breathing hard after just a slight jog, or running with my dog. In this way, I found something to achieve in the break. It was to see improvement within myself, and bettering every week.

Things that didn’t work for me during the break were hard procrastination, having frequent breaks, and sleeping too much. Hard procrastination, became a major problem for me during the break, in that I would keep pushing projects and things that would take a lot of time back. Due to me thinking that I had the whole day to do things now. So I could probably just finish it in a single day. But this combined with frequent breaks and sleeping really made me terrible at getting things done. As if a project was really long, I would constantly take a nap break or watch a video, and just end up falling off track. Which made me end up wasting days at a time, and I’d end up completing things close to their due date. Although what did work for me later on, was I began to keep track of things, and set certain periods of time, in which I’d put my full focus into whatever I was doing. With this undisturbed focus, I was able to speed through many things, and get them done in a relatively decent time. Also, just getting back into shape helped a lot with my mental. Because, I was mentally worn, when I was just relaxing and sleeping all day, but now I have a clearer mindset. And can think properly without drowsiness overtaking me.

In the fall of 2020, I believe adults should do a half and half learning, where kids can opt to start school early in the day at like 6 a.m. and end at like 12p.m in the afternoon. Then classrooms can be cleaned and resume from around 1p.m to 7p.m. at night. In this way, everyone can experience in school learning, rather than having to rely on online teaching. Also, people who like to wake up early can be done with school early, and focus on other things they might have. While others, can do everything they need to until the afternoon, and come to school widely awake, if they aren’t usually morning people. In this way, people who usually aren’t fully functioning in the morning can be fully prepared for the day. And those who like sleeping early can finish all they need when their brains are working their best, in the morning.
