The past three months in quarantine have been… interesting if I had to say myself. There were many ups and downs about staying at home as well as many eye openers that I experienced.
One good thing that I really enjoyed while distance learning was that I could manage my own time and finish assignments according to my own schedule. For myself, I usually alternated day to day, one day being to relax and talk to friends while the other to work on some homework.

As hard as it is for me to say, quarantine has made me lazier than ever before. Without a clear schedule planned for the day, such as going to school, I eventually find myself every day not wanting to do much. In the case of distance learning, I struggle to finish my work even though before quarantine I finished my work on time almost always. In my opinion, the main reason why I don’t feel motivated is because of the announcement that assignments that were assigned after quarantine will not affect my grade.
For future plans on distance learning, I hope that it will involve more interaction and less screen time. Trust me, I’ve been looking at my screen for too long.
“I disagree with option #3(single class for 6 weeks) the most because it is already hard enough as a student to pay attention in class for less than an hour, I can’t even imagine giving a teacher my whole attention for a whole 4 hours. Plus, learning one subject for that long can’t be easy, teachers would have to crame the information into the students brain, especially if they aren’t even paying attention. It would be harder for students in the later years because they will have to rethink back to those 6 weeks to review that information.”
This was said by one of my classmates about the various options on how distance learning will be like in the fall, and I could not agree more with how option #3 is a terrible idea. Like her, I struggle to maintain my focus throughout the day where each class is an hour long. But being in one class for four hours is too much to ask for student.

The options that I believe to be a really good way for students to learn according to the link are any that can best resemble the way of learning before closure. In my opinion, that means seeing our friends regularly, and just interacting with teachers at the daily basis. However, if that isn’t possible, I wish for a way that we can all agree to and makes everyone happy. At the end of the day, being happy is why we all live.
Overall, I just want to return to the regular schedule that we had before quarantine, even though I know that is impossible at the moment. It’s been many years where I woke up and went to school between 8 and 3 to the point to where I thought a break was desperately needed. At first, when they announced that students could not go to school, I was ecstatic. But after months of staying at home and missing my friends, I am counting down the days to where we can go back to normal.
Hope everyone has a great summer, and I wish the best to you Mr. Theriault. Don’t ever change the way you do things.
