Staying at home and being stuck in one place can lead you to spending your time gathering your deep thoughts. At one point, you’re gonna get sick and bored of doing the same thing over and over again. The activities that you used to enjoy doing during your free time won’t feel the same anymore. It won’t feel as enjoyable as it did before. As you’re laying around, thinking about what you should do next, those thoughts will eventually lead to other thoughts, especially with the events happening around you and the situation (that’s definitely gonna hit the history books in the future) you’re in. It’s crazy how we’re experiencing a huge pandemic right now and how we’re basically experiencing the Great Depression. Anyways going back onto track, being caught up in your own thoughts can either open up your eyes to the real world around you or it could close them.
Being in quarantine and away from your everyday life makes you think about the things you took for granted. It’s odd not seeing the same people everyday and it feels uncomfortable to not have some type of control over your life. Before quarantine, there was some type of structure to your life, some type of daily schedule. Now days get mixed up (what are the differences between a weekend and weekday again??) and you might be eating your daily meals at irregular times. You don’t know what’s gonna happen in an hour, a day, a week unless YOU make an effort to create a new, structured lifestyle for yourself. Otherwise, you’re simply just lackadaisically going with the flow of life.
Personally, I believe everyone should try to do something during this time to cleanse themselves. This meaning could go many ways. Cleansing yourself means to make yourself feel good! proud! satisfied! Maybe you can deep clean your room or get rid of the clothes you don’t wear/need anymore. With all this free time, you can finally start hobbies you’ve always wanted to try yet you use the excuse of “not having enough time.” It’s a little hypocritical of me to say that since I use that excuse myself. It honestly isn’t a horrible excuse, it’s just that it can hard to go out of your comfort zone to try something new. Sometimes it’s hard to try something new when you’re not exactly totally passionate about it so you don’t make an effort to make time for it. Even if you quickly lose interest in the hobby, at least you experienced and learned something new. You never know if the little experience of yours could benefit you in the future. Learning new things is all part of growing. Learning isn’t all in the books. Book knowledge is NOT going to help you survive the real world. You need real, hands-on experiences to grow.
