As we have been shut off from the outside world for the past 2 months now, we can all feel the effects of boredom. I have to admit that when school was first cancelled, I was overwhelmed with excitement. That meant I didn’t have to wake up early or go to school half-asleep. But as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, that feeling of absolute monotony set in. So, as any reasonable person would do, I turned to digital entertainment. I began to explore new games, including Valorant, COD: Warzone, and GTA. Anything that would take my mind off the current situation would suffice. It’s not that I don’t care about what is going on, sometimes you just need an outlet away from all of it. Aside from playing these games, apps such as Netflix, Spotify, and Youtube have kept me going. I don’t know what I would do without music or binge-watching my favorite shows during these uncertain times. When I begin to realize that sitting at my computer or watching TV is not the most healthiest activity, I enjoy just going outside to the backyard. Taking a mental break to relax is one of the most important things we can do in times of stress. Now that we have so much time on our hands, it’s one of the best times to maybe do something you’ve always wanted to do (safely). Maybe it’s getting that summer body, reading a book you’ve never had the time to, or practicing one of your hobbies, it is prime time for that. While this may not be the best ideal situation for us, let’s make the most of it.
